Did you know that over the past three years there have been no games about Formula 1 at all?? The last mention of "Formula" dates back to 2002 and the pillar of the car simulation Grand Prix 4 (that is, the "license" was not on PC for eight years). A strange start to the article, of course, but in light of this fact it’s somehow easier to look at a project dedicated to circuit racing in ultra-light airplane-like cars. Yes, and Michael Schumacher there too.
I’ve been a fan of Formula 1 since childhood. Probably because at the dawn of capitalist Russia, half-rusty Soviet-made Rydvans were increasingly moving along the streets. There weren’t a lot of foreign cars in my deepest “castle”, and they, too, were covered with decay up to the side members… Naturally, there was no talk of any races. The only experience of this kind is to rush like a breeze through courtyards and vacant lots, farting on your grandfather’s “penny”. These racers spat on the floor, smoked, swore, and my dad categorically forbade me to have anything in common with them. But as compensation he showed Formula 1. Schumacher, I remember, then I had just moved to Ferrari, and I was stepping on his heels Häkkinen from McLaren-Mercedes. Romance: speeds under 300; pit stops, where all manipulations are carefully shown in close-up; tactics again… A noble sport that requires surgical precision both in driving the car and in its design. Do you think the engine from GRID and DiRT can cope with such a load?? Still, the slope of previous games on this motor is very different.
F1 2010 begins to simulate the life of a real Formula 1 racer from himself. Without expensive foreign cars, Crystal champagne, beautiful women and tours in Europe and beyond, but with a difficulty setting played out in the form of an interview. The virtual journalist asks: “How do you feel on the track, dear Player One?“And I answered her: “Difficulty level – Medium”. A few more questions of the same nature, and then choosing a team – here are BMW, Lotus, and Renault… oh, there are almost no names left from childhood. The same McLaren is no longer associated with the famous German concern, which means you won’t see ash-gray cars… Although, on the other hand, for an inexperienced Formula user there is no difference at all. In the noble sport of surgical precision there are strict rules, so you won’t find any fundamental differences between fast cars. There is no such freebie as with Lamborghini from Most Wanted – you will have to snatch every position with meat.
And this meat, I https://ukcryptocasinos.co.uk/tether-casinos/ must say, resists. The very first career task is not to win, as we are used to, but to take a place at least not lower than fifteenth. The experienced rider chuckled and decided that he was valued too low. No less experienced at the other end of the Internet phone was at that time looking for an exit to the track. And he kept cursing – “What kind of Sakhir is this?? You’ll find horseradish with this wretched menu, it’s like starting a race.”. Indeed, the menu stylized as a small trailer is a little confusing. But you can paint the helmet in one of the suggested colors. It’s little consolation, of course, but in a game without a plot you need to somehow get out so that the client doesn’t get bored.
All other options are located outside: in “Grand Prix” you can set up your own competition from a whole bunch of tracks, but in a network game everything is already clear. Sometimes journalists can catch you here, outside the trailer – the crew’s attitude towards him also depends on the pilot’s answers. By the way, Sakhir is a highway in Bahrain. This year I took first place here Fernando Alonso, now for Ferrari, and in 2004 he was the best Schumacher…and also for the Reds.
There is no need to buy cars from Formula 1 – the team will give everything, for free. Therefore, we cross out the economic system. We will be chasing enthusiasm – we must lead the team to victory… or simply not fall into the dirt. After a very… no, not like that… After a drop-dead long loading time, we finally find ourselves in the back of a fast-moving car. There are technicians swarming around, the car setup is also interactive and stylized like a garage. In front of your face there is a screen with data about the track and the car, on the right is an engineer who is responsible for quickly setting up the car, and even to the right is a board with the time – here you can choose whether to undergo practice and qualification. Real “nidfospide” people immediately rush into battle from 24th place… and lose… after patiently watching an overly lengthy training course. And you can’t turn it off, and they show self-evident things. You sit here in the car and feel mentally retarded. This is a simulator – I wonder if they Schumacher this is how they polish their brains?
And so we slowly roll out onto the track. Or rather, we are being rolled out automatically. We are leaving the pit area, another qualifier rushes past, but my super-fast BMW is not moving! I can turn left and right, but the gas and brake have disappeared from their usual places. Another racer rushed by with a roar, I’m beating out a symphony on the keyboard, looking for which button is the gas on. It turned out – on the “space”. The default brake is the Control button. This is by no means bad, the controls are convenient, you get used to it quickly, and there is less stress on the right hand – but why wasn’t this included in the extra-long training course?? Confusion on the topic “Who came up with such a layout?“criticism is not taken into account, so after qualifying I somehow took twentieth place and moved on to the competition itself.
And so, the engines roared, the line of cars rushed to the finish line. Ten laps of real “formula” fun. I can already imagine how I pass my rivals one after another, dashing into the pit stop, joyfully winning… Figurines. To begin with, even the minimum ten laps is a very long time (the number of laps may vary, but you will have to drive 60 kilometers without any options). On the same Sakhir Schumacher set the best time at one and a half minutes… Recalculated, yes? And in general you will have to get used to the fact that F1 2010 is pure circuit racing in its most classic form. We follow the same comrade for five laps, miraculously pass him, the process begins again… Pit stops flash, the balance of power changes again… And at the same time we need to maintain the track with precision. With a keyboard in your hands, the pleasure from the process is very doubtful. Without many hours of preparation, it is almost impossible to take the same turn equally well twice. For every mistake, computer opponents are punished to the fullest extent. Here I was eighteenth, and already I’m trailing at the very end. Branded “flashbacks” inherited do not help at all. A loss consists of a dozen small mistakes – and all of them can happen on one lap. No steering wheel F1 2010 – just a waste of time. I can’t imagine to whom hours of training will bring joy… such fans have an Act Labs steering wheel or even an authentic cockpit. But this is generally a rare species, not endangered, of course, but we have seen them alive only a few times.
Actually, we can end here. There’s no point in talking about the graphics – it’s almost a complete copy of GRID, but with additional effects. They simulate blurring reality at super-high speed and splashing water on a pilot’s helmet in the rain so that you can’t see a damn thing. There is no music at all, but the sound… I think if you have ever watched the Formula 1 competition, you can imagine what you will hear. And if you haven’t watched it, are not interested and don’t want to delve into it, then F1 2010 better to avoid. Noble sport is not suitable for entertainment, everything is serious here.
Pros: It’s clear; cute; all cars, teams and tracks are real.
Cons: absolutely boring for an average player and below; the game requires training and special equipment.
